In this example, staff were manually logging into and out of 40+ separate online payment portals, downloading daily balances and copying the data into an Excel sheet. The entire process took approximately 2 hours daily to complete, and the task wasn’t completed at all during the weekends, which often resulted in Monday morning surprises and back-logs.
Within 4 weeks Lawrence & Wedlock built and deployed a robot that logged into all of the online payment portals and obtained the balances in a fraction of the time, and then updated the Excel based report. This alone resulted in a 90% reduction in the actual elapsed time to prepare the report and a 100% human effort saving. The robot was also programmed to perform simple analysis on the data and recommend appropriate actions for the human workers to consider. The robot also operated throughout the weekends resulting in an additional 40% productivity gain and no more Monday morning surprises or back-log to resolve, as human staff were immediately notified when certain parameters were triggered.
